The Provider Card
Digging through my virtual archive again today, I found a scan that I did of the Provider Card. This was one of three "prophesy" cards that I did for my friends' art show called Everything Wrong: The Knights of Shocking Difference in Sept 2007 in Santa Monica, CA. I was asked to illustrate three contemporary archetype cards - sort of our own take on the Tarot. This one is my favorite.
This is what I was given:
the survival and subsistence of self and others. Goes OUT of the self
to get the goods (vs. the Nurturer- who brings into self).
The first person I thought of was my friend Jen, who is very inspiring to me. She is a single mom and has worked so hard to provide for her kids. So, that is who is on my card, representing those who do everything they can for the sake of the survival and happiness of others.
I would love an excuse to do more of these.
nature always wins

Taken a few months ago on the LA River. Hard to tell from the photo but I thought the rock on the right was a rock at first few glances. Turns out, it's a blanket taking on a new life. Urban nature.

Tried Another Felt Piece
But it didnt quite work...
I realized I liked the orginial photograph better. I'm sort of 1 out of 4 right now, as far as the pieces I really like when they're done. I've posted both, but the orginial photo is at bit of a higher contrast than usual. What do you think?
